1963 Lancia Flavia PF Coupe

I bought this car from a local club member, Dave Strus, who is more of a Ferrari guy and had spotted it in his town, and bought it since it had a strong resemblance to his 250 GTE.  When I went to see the car it was stored in a barn in the middle of nowhere, we pulled the tarp off the car and it looked pretty good,  then we opened the hood and we couldnt find the motor due to the large amounts of hay, plastic and othjer debris, obviuosly some animal had taken up residence in the engine compartment since he put it there.  Once we started to pull this stuff out we found handfuls of the wring harness in the debris. Evidently this rodent chewed through the entire harness right where it entered the voltage regulator.  Having never seen one before and knowing it was a rust free Califonia Car I went ahead bought it anyway.

The story on the car is that a long term owner moved here from CA and drove the car here not quite making it all the way.  Dave said the car ran but needed a brake booster.

After trying in vain to get it running and the harness all connected back together I took it to RARE and they got it running and installed a new exhuast system, redidi the fule system including rebuilding the twin solexes, but determined the brakes needed redone so sent to to Barts Brake technicians the best local Dunlop disc brake specialists.   It took almost 2 years to get the system finished and set a new shop record bill previously held by a silver cloud.  The shift linkage needed rebuilt and it went back to RARE, where that was accomplished, although the motor still wasnt running well and I finally convinced them to pull the heads.  They really didnt want to work on this motor, but once inside found the culprit, a stuck valve, and fixed it.

Many thanks go out to Mike Kristick who has supplied parts quickly and reasonably.

Now the car awaits being painted, and then it will get some interior freshening up and hopefully be ready for FFO2001.  I tried to take it last year but when I went to take it to the bodyshop it wouldnt start and I determined the gas tank is full of sludge so it will need to be removed and reconditioned AGAIN.
